 tub faucet issue
Author: colquigs (FL)

I am in Florida and was affected by hurrican ian. Roofers/insurance adjusters don't know if some water damage to carpet in room next to bath was caused by incredible winds sending water through soffits. It isn't the outside hose connections. I am leaning towards the faucet that has always not been flush to the wall. There is a 4" copper pipe and it was a 5" threaded diverter faucet on it. I bought a new faucet and to add inches to the wall I bought a 1/2" - 3/4" flange multi size rubber flange in the center of the chrome collar. I caulked around it, let it dry and tried to put the new faucet on. No matter what the faucet will not meet the flange tightly. What is this 70 plus yr old woman doing wrong? How can I add something to fill the space between faucet and wall? Thank you so much!

the pipe itself may be loose in the wall

the hose bib MUST, repeat MUST, fit flush to and be attached to the wall

you may need to modify the piping

the 'faucet' must be secured to the exterior wall

else

the exact problems you are having

you may need a pro
