We just installed a new glass shower. the current shower head sprays water onto the glass door and is causing it to leak. We have had the glass company back many times to try and re-caulk to stop the leak but nothing has worked, I was thinking if we changed the shower head to one that sprays directly down so the shower doors won't be so stressed with high output water flow. I was thinking to get an extension arm and shower head that could attach to the plumbing we already have. Any ideas on this issue or suggestions of a particular extension arm that would work? Also if I get an extension arm can my current shower head fit on the extension or do I need to buy a new shower head?

Like a wall mounted rain head shower arm?
You can use that to point straight down but will look funky with your current shower head, maybe get a rain head as well
Although this problem may still happen depending on where the faulty caulking actually is
As far as product goes my suggestion is stick with a name brand

thank you for your reply. Can you recommend an extension arm? I agree that a rain-head would probably work best. So the extension arm would just attach to our current plumbing? And then the new rain-head would attach to the extension arm?
Also what would we do with the fixture meant to hold the handheld spray wand? Or is there a way to get an extension arm that also would work so we could keep the hand held sprayer?

Check out our sponsor at plumbingsupply.com search for wall mounted shower arm they have many to choose from
You can use the existing fitting for you hand shower but again it will look funky
Another option is to not use the hand shower fitting and remove the hand held wall bracket and epoxy or caulk the holes in the tile or just leave the bracket in place

you need to have the bottom track for the door properly installed so it does NOT leak
the issue may be with the caulk UNDER the track and/or the track's /weep holes
a shower door should NOT leak when sprayed by a ......... wait for it
wait
SHOWER head

Ditto....the glass should not leak.
How about posting a picture farther back that shows all the glass etc. ?
If this is just a shower....why do you have a tub spout ?
If it is over a tub...the tub spout is awful high.
Sometimes a tub spout is installed in just a shower and it is called a toe tester because it is mounted low to test the temperature with your toe before you diverter it to the shower head.
Yours would be called a thigh tester......

the job was probably a one day 'quickie' which replaced a tub / shower with a solo shower
as advertised on TV
IOW: turn a 4 fixture bathromm into a 3 fixture bathromm and charge top dollar for the (IMO) downgrade
