I have a 3 zone hot water boiler system for heating my house. The first floor zone has a kick space heater in the kitchen. The kick space heater (ten years old) is the first unit in the system before the hot water goes to the radiators. Last year during very cold days, the radiators at the end of the run would not get hot. My plumber checked the boiler, circulation pump, switches, etc. and these were fine. He concluded that there was a blockage in the line. After several hours of searching, he found the blockage had to do with the kick space heater. He installed a by-pass line around the kick space heater and now the heat is fine for all radiators. Should I replace the kick space heater? Why would this blockage occur?

if you are happy with the room temperature then leave it alone. if the room could stand to be a little warmer then get a kickspace going..

It is recommended that kick space heaters be on their own separate zone valve or better yet circulator and not piped in with other cast iron radiators
Kickspece heaters are like copper fin baseboard (1 pipe system) no flow check or mono tee required
