I don't have a drain near the water softener and I had run it through crawlspace. I connected the water softener drain to airgap (in the crawlspace) which is connected to ptrap (in the crawlspace) and it drains into the shower drain pipe.
Do I need to vent or add air admittance valve?
Do I run the risk of sewer backup or overflow in the crawlspace?

Should I move the airgap out of the crawlspace and put it in the garage?

If you have a septic system it is not recommended to drain the softener into it
