I just started using PEX, so I'm quite ignorant. I'm using the stainless steel pinch type clamps on 1/2" PEX B. I'm having problems keeping the clamps from moving on the pipe while I try to use the clamp tool to cinch them.
I have two brands of pinch clamps. One type fits fairly snug, and isn't as much problem, but the other type fits very loose, and is very difficult to keep in place on horizontal runs, and impossible on vertical runs. These clamps work very well if I can get them cinched in the right place though. No leaks at all.
I was thinking maybe I could use a piece of electrical tape to hold them in place until I can cinch them. I want to ask if anyone has better ideas.

masking tape works well and does not need to be removed afterwards

Many thanks, bernabeu. I'll get some masking tape and give it a try. What I have on hand is about 30 yrs old, dried out and stuck together. Maybe it will help. It's tuff standing on a ladder trying to crimp these buggers with only two arms 
So far, I like PEX much better than the old CPVC stuff, but it's steep learning curve for us old fossils.

blue 'painters tape' is easy to 'work'
ps. imo CPVC = GARBAGE unless used exposed as it 'hardens' and 'brittalizes' over time

I use painter's tape. I can't imagine using nothing on vertical connections. Since I started working out regularly I have more strength to cinch them.
