Water is leaving a waxy residue on hair!
Author: Kleigh71 (PA)

My water is city water. We are known to have some of the best water in the state. It isn’t hard water. It’s relatively soft. When I shower, it leaves a build up on my hair that is sticky and makes it very hard to brush. Looks like I haven’t showered in a month right after I dry my hair. What’s strange is that my next door neighbor has the same water as me and doesn’t have this issue. I know this because lately I’ve been washing my hair at their house with no issues. I’ve had multiple plumbers come out and the haven’t been able to solve the issue. Has anyone experienced this?

? Have you been using YOUR 'hair products' at the neighbor's house ?

If not, THEY are the issue.

If yes, the issue 'may' be with YOUR water heater.

? How old is it ?

? When was it last serviced/flushed/drained ?

? Anode rod checked ?

also possible: new 'flexible' connectors or a new hand-held shower with an internal 'flex'

Thanks for the reply. I take my products over. I will look into the other suggestions. Our heater is from 2019. So it’s newer.

? was it installed with flex connectors ?

They may have internal plastic 'tubes' which can 'deteriorate' frowning :

The more expensive connectors are solid corrugated metal NOT a 'braid' over a plastic tube:
