My Eljer toilet started running, which I assumed would be a quick fix, but I quickly discovered the universal kit I used to fix a newer toilet is not compatible with the Eljer. I haven't found a model number anywhere in the tank; there's a "76" in the lid and a "72" in the tank body, and judging from the dates stamped in them, they were manufactured in September 1951.
I've looked at the directory of Eljer toilets on the Plumbing Supply site, but I can't positively ID my toilet based on any of those images; however, that's where I got the idea to check this forum. I'm just paranoid about buying more wrong parts. I planned to order all-new innards since the tank was a hodgepodge of older parts, newer/universal parts, and some kind of putty, and I couldn't tell what was actually supposed to be there.
