Drip from Tub faucet and handheld shower
Author: goferr (WA)

Put in an M-Core 2 or 3 Function Pressure Balance and IPS Diverter Valve With Stops. Tub spout is a spout only without a diverter to pull up. We got a replacement cartridge and installed it because that's what we were told was the problem. The new cartridge didn't solve the problem. Because we still had the wall open, We asked to have a whole new Valve unit sent to use. Installed it, put in the Cartridge. The drip still continues. Called for customer assistance, told we need to check all the gaskets to be sure they are in place and were sent another cartridge. We are having the some problem. We were also told to have a plumber install the cartridge if it still leaked. The cartridge is not that difficult to install. Anyone have issues with Moen cartridges. How much water can keep dripping out of the pipes/drain out of the pipes or handheld shower hose.Any suggestions, Ideas? it's getting very frustrating especally when we keep getting sent new cartridges and they don't shut the water off.

Shower heads are notorious for dripping well after the valve is off.

? Does it still drip after 4-6 hours off ?

If NO then 'no problemo' ~ you can try a different head if it bothers you.

If YES ~ you need a licensed bonded insured plumber to diagnose issue.

contact moen again and ask if they have a rep in your vacinity.
some companies have a plumber who they call on when a problem like yours comes along.
sometimes they can send someone in a shirt and tie as well.
in any case its worth a call.

We talked with Moen, that's how we got a whole new M-CORE with integrated 2 Function/3 Function Transfer Valve (using it as a 2 Function). We replaced the first one we installed with the new valve ( our wall was open and accessible). When that new valve still had a slow drip, we called Moen again. They said they would send a new cartridge again. Installed that cartridge and still had a slow drip. Call # 3, Asked if they had a field rep that could come out and the answer was no but they would send out another cartridge. We were told to be sure to check all the seals to make sure they hadn't come dislodged during shipping. Did that. Told use that if we still had a problem that we should have a certified plumber come out to inspect and install a cartridge. #3 is installed but have a slow drip still. Going to give it 24 hr. Checking if it is the hot side or the cold by turning the on/off handle from hot direction to cold direction. Going to be going out of town so in 3 weeks we'll check it again or maybe try installing the #2 cartridge again. Some how something is not seating OR is it just the water in the plumbing lines that are draining out. That's the only other thing that would make sense. Appreciate the suggestions...possibly changing the shower head too. I'll check in again. Thanks

Do you have pictures available of the in-wall piping?

IF it leaks "forever", then it is the valve. If it eventually stops dripping, then it is draindown and not a defect.
