Can someone please tell me why there is intermittent sputtering in my hot water lines? Only hot, not cold. It seems air is getting in somehow.
One floor ranch. It happens in any of the five faucets. The well system is intact and was just inspected and is in good shape.

you have entrained air in the cold water piping which expands and forms bubbles which rise to the top in the water heater's tank while not in actual use

you periodically bleed the tank by using some HW at the nearest fixture

You can install any number of different air elimintors (air vents) on the top of your water heater on the hot side.

Is it a newly installed water heater?
Around this time 2 yrs ago there was a problem with anode rods due to manufacturing issues and the result was excessive air in hot water lines

Thank you all. The water heater is five years old. I will have the existing magnesium anode rod replaced with an aluminum sacrificial rod per the manufacturer's instructions. I will try to find a plumber to install the air eliminator(air vent) on the hot water side on top of the water heater.
I will periodically bleed the tank with hot water from a faucet closest to the tank.
