 Shower Drain too high
Author: kjsk71 (TX)

I live in TX, my shower is on concrete slab, there was a leak so we took the shower down to studs. The bolts to the drain were destroyed, so we cut off the drain... if I put a 2 inch coupler, then the new drain will sit above the concrete, if fact I would have to use 2 inch pipe to connect the flange and coupler with zero space between them.
I've looked for "low profile pvc 2 inch shower drains for concrete and a clamp ring for a liner..no luck, the "low profile" are still 3 inch to 3 1/8 height. any other suggestions?
I'm understanding I need the flange level w/ the concrete, then I do a preslope, liner than scope...

Thank you in advance for any help..

what you want to do will work providing the stub coming from the floor can be made the exact same size as the oatey bottom connection. then the fitting you use to join the two must fit snuggly.
remember you must glue this all together. do not even think about caulking or epoxy.

Sounds like you have to build up the floor using more pre gauging than typically required or cut the trap out and install a new trap and drain

Sorry, I'm trying to figure out how to share a photo.

basically I have 2 inch straight pvc coming up from the concrete. The top of it is 5inches below the floor.
If I add a 3inch coupling, I tend to only get pipe 1 inch in both ends, so I lose 1 inch, that gives me slighly less that 4 inches to add another straight pipe and then the drain. mockups leave the drain about 3/4 of an inch above the concrete floor.

So I tried 2inch coupler, then a short piece of 2in then the oately and trying to bottom them out in the coupling...I'm still 3/4 -1 inch above the floor....

great picture, I'm trying to figure out how to add photos.
Your picture is exactly how I was going to do it, however before I do the preslope, the drain will be 3/4 to 1inch above the base concrete floor.

You shouldn't have any problem. A DWV coupling is only about 2" long. Are you using a pressure pipe coupling? When the pipe and coupling have glue on them, you will be able to slide the pipe fully in(and with a DWV coupling, it's a shorter insertion distance).
