The abs side is a slightly larger diameter than the ci side you have to flip the coupling or stuff plumbers putty between the ci and the band then tighten the band

The hose clamp carrier or the clamps can get damaged and there's no way to tighten.

You could remove the outside jacket and clamps and the get a new sheer band and tighten the whole thing.

If the neoprene gasket is damaged well then you are looking at bigger project and changing that out would require 2 points of disconnect. Can be challenging task even for an experienced service plumber. If this turns out to be the fix well then make sure all pipe is supported before removing anything.

Post an image if you can. good luck.

A no hub adaptor fitting may help. Its the same od as the Cast iron so the band dont get crushed. [www.bing.com]

I could think of several possibilities if the cast iron side is loose.

(1) you do not have the proper transition coupling. You mentioned "rubber" so I assume it is a thick black rubber coupling with no stop in the middle? Or is it a thin neoprene gasket with a SS shield for above ground applications, or is it a gray color connector with two hose clamps for under sink applications? You need to make sure it is the correct size/material X size/material coupling. If it is a neoprene coupling, especially if you get it from a big box store, often times the inside gasket is mismatched because the SS band and the gasket are two separate pieces, people took them apart to look at it and put it back wrong. The bands have the product numbers and sizes on them but the inside gasket can be the wrong one.

(2) if you have the right coupling and the CI side is loose, measure how much it is loose by. Take the outer diameter of the CI pipe and post it here. I ran into some odd size CI pipes before. Here is a thread that may help you if you have an odd size CI pipe, Fernco carries all kinds of adapters for their rubber coupling products that will fill the "gap" between the rubber ID and the CI OD.
