 Toilet Slow to Flush
Author: 120volts (CA)

I've got a five year Kohler toilet that is baffling. Here's what happens:

1. You start with a normal level water in the bowl (and proper water level in tank).

2. Flush and the bowl fills up slowly to 1-2" higher, then very, very slowly goes down. You can barely see the water swirl.

3. Toilet valve and canister flush valve are doing their jobs; the overfill tube is proper.

3. Water goes low then fills back up to "normal level" as in #1.

4. We can't put any solids down. Just the yellow stuff.

There is a lot of mushy off white build up sitting in the bowl. It looks like calcium but it's really soft. I used an augur but the hole was too small for my snake head; previously, we had a plumber come with a 6' augur. It only helped for a few weeks but was only a slightly better flush at that. Kohler has a powerful flush and it's only about 5% of the flush power!

Help!

The jet hole in the toilet is probably clogged with that "soft" stuff.

Yep. If you're talking about the tiny single one in the front I tried clearing it with a coat hanger and got a little out but it was flushing the same.

Put a quart of white vinegar in the bowl and let it set for 8 hours.... may fix the problem
