 gas water heater temperature
Author: NGS (NJ)

I am totally inexperienced so hopefully this is a simple question. I have a Bradford White gas water heater. The water in the house is extremely hot. I see there is a knob on the water heater for temperature.
Is it ok to just turn the knob, or does everything have to be turned off, then on again after turning the knob? (there are instructions on the water heater that seem to be saying that, but it may be for initial installation).

There are LETTERED temperature positions on the gas valve in sequence of Hot A B C VERY HOT move the knob halfway between HOT and A

Then wait a couple hrs and check the temperature or the hot water as stated it should be no higher tan 130• Fahrenheit

Unless hot water is used, the temperature of the tank will NOT lower for many, many hours.
