When I run the faucet in my bathroom after a short time it begins to slowly back up (not a complete clog as the water still drains). When this happens water begins pouring out of a hole in the wall on the exterior of the house on the other side of the wall from where my sink is. I assume this is an overflow valve of some sort, but is this cause for alarm? What is causing it to have to overflow? Thanks for your help!!

sounds like you have an open clean-out
you have a stoppage 'somewhere' downstream of the clean-out
either
run the snake yourself
or
call in a plumber
...... and, YES, you have a problem as your sewer is 'open to atmosphere' below the roof line of your dwelling

You DO have a "complete stoppage". The water still drains because it is going outside through that unplugged cleanout opening. Call a plumber.
