 Kohler replacement flush valve
Author: michaelh (FL)

What would be the replacement flushvalve for a 1950's Kohler one-piece "Placid" style toilet which originally had a "Curtin" canister flushvalve.?

I ordered the 47086-0700A. It came with a brass seat. I installed the unit in my older Kohler one piece unit. It still leaks into the bowl. The plugs (bolt hole seals) (3) are slightly fatter than the hole and do not push in so that the flange is flat on the tank base. Should I look for different ones or maybe us a little WD 40 on them. I microwaved them for 30 seconds in a cup of water and dipped them in olive oil but they didn't go in further.

Also I question if the seat disk sits perfectly on the seat.

Is the plastic seat better than the brass one?

One YT video shows author using Blue Block sealant around the tank outlet hole.

Would gluing a piece of rubber gasket on the the contact area of the clamping lug allow a tighter fit without jeopardizing
cracking the porcelain?

Thanks, but most of the people there are only half as old as this 63 YO flush valve; they have no knowledge of it.
