Symmons Diverter Leaks Still After Replacement
Author: Brono (RI)

Our home had a Symmons shower valve, a Model A installed when we moved in. It leaked a bit through the tub spout when off, and when the diverter was set to shower it bypassed a small stream to the tub spout as well. I called Symmons, got the parts and replaced the spindle, hot & cold seats, and the diverter valve. The shower turns off fine now but the diverter still leaks a bit to the tub spout when in shower mode. I cleaned everything with a wire brush and rinsed out everything as I removed the old parts, so I'm checking here to see if there is anything else that it could be.

Any advice is appreciated.

The diverter WILL/SHOULD 'leak' a little through the tub spout.

Thanks for the info and that's good to know. I was driving myself crazy trying to figure it out. And sure enough, dug a little deeper into the literature that came with the kit and it does mention that feature. It feels like it's more than it should be designed for, but I'm basing that off nothing other than I'd like it to not do it at all, so anything is too much! Thanks again and Happy New Year!
