So, when you drain the old tank down, how do you remove all the water and sediment?

I wonder about everything below the boiler drain valve. Can the sediment and water below the boiler drain valve be removed using a transfer pump and washer hose (long enough) through the top after removing the cold side nipple.

there is not much below the valve.
just leave the drain hose hooked up and turn the cold back on for a minute. this will stir up all the sediment and flush it out the hose.
close the drain and before you move the tank put a bucket under the drain and tip the tank to get any remaining water out.
