reinstalling pedestal sink after new floor installed
Author: anonymousUser (NY)

Hello, my contractor did such a bad job on the floor tiles that I was able to convince him to remove the pedestal sink and toilet, and set down a new floor. Then, he reinstalled the pedestal sink but now the floor is a fraction of an inch higher and so the sink is angled backwards and the pedestal is crooked. He needs to remove the sink again and install it properly. The wall behind the sink is ceramic tile on top of cement board on top of a wall made out of something that is not drywall - it is a solid wall but I don't know what you call it. So my question is how can he remove the anchors, plug the holes, and install the wall anchors a fraction of an inch higher?

Is the sink attached to the wall with a metal bracket or holes in the sink? What type of anchors were used? When you say "fraction of an inch", what fraction is it? There are grab bar mounts that install through an 1 1/4" hole and are rated to support 500lbs. If the sink is mounted with its own holes, these used without the round plate will allow adjustability. If mounted with metal bracket, new holes could be drilled in the bracket for the existing anchors.

Your contractor must as you said, unscrew the fasteners, level the sink and reinstall the pedestal sink there should be a “backer board” to fasten the sink to the wall and not rely on anchors, hopefully the old holes for the anchors will still be covered when all said and done or get a plumber to do the job and send the hill to your contractor
