Hi,
Our 120 foot deep well with a submerged pump has been slowly disintegrating sending manganese particles into the water.
I just installed a new pressure switch and noticed the old one's inlet was full of those particles.
Is it a good idea to install a standard water filter between the pump and pressure switch & tank to stop the particles before they jam up the new switch?
The reservation I have about the idea is that any filter would constrict water flow. A filter that is normally installed AFTER the pressure switch & tank has the pressure tank to compensate for the extra needed power, while my idea may put extra strain on the pump.
Thank you!
Russ K.

If the switch can be isolated from the pump by a clogged filter, it could be DISATROUS someday, when the filter is clogged and the pump cannot turn off and runs continuously, until it burns out or something breaks due to the high pressure.
