Branched hot water and cold water
Author: meganthomas320 (KS)

If you have two branches on each of the hot water and hold water lines going to two different parts of a house, would a valve be needed to prevent “stealing” from the other side of the house? Say I use a hot shower in one side of my house, can it affect the the temperature of the other side of the house without valves being placed?

there are NO magic valves

only proper pipe sizing AND adequate pressure AND 'pressure balancing' shower valves will help

meganthomas... you are asking about a scenario that is present in untold millions of homes across the country.
99.9 % of homes have a central water heater feed different baths, kit etc.
i would say 'none' of them have check valves on each branch.
the purpose of a check valve on a recirc system is to keep the cold from backing up into the hot not to provide balance in the piping.
