Laundry Standpipe & Oatey Sure Vent
Author: NJLandlords (NJ)

When I screw on Oatey to vent the water doesn't go down, without Oatey it goes down fine. I bought 2 different Oatey vents and neither works. I'm waiting to install Laundry sink to see if that makes it better but I bet you it just ends up sucking the air out of that p-trap.

I think you have a piping problem. Is this a new installation? Can you provide pictures of the piping?

the oatey vent only lets air in not out. if the laundry is draining too fast it is creating a positive pressure in the system which is why it drains with an open pipe.
