I’m attempt to fix a bathtub faucet of considerable age (Royal Cleveland, or 1930s or 19490s). A local plumber says that this is best replaced, despite the fact that the only issue is a leaky washer. I understand his position, but the taps match the lines of the tub, and I’d rather keep them. I have replaced the original contoured washer with a 3/8L Danco washer of the same size (I also cleaned the valve seat with a valve reseating tool. Unfortunately, a replacement bonnet washer has been tough to find. I’ve reinstalled the fitting with plenty of pipe thread compound and it seems to be working fine without leaking without the washer, but I’d prefer to have one in place. My questions:
1: is there a good source online for bonnet washers for stems?
2: failing that, will a wrap of PTFE tape (or thread?) work effectively in the longer term?
3: is the washer I am using likely to work well (I’m happy to replace it periodically as needed).
Information appreciated!
Edward.

++ don't know
2: failing that, will a wrap of PTFE tape (or thread?) work effectively in the longer term?
++ i use:
3: is the washer I am using likely to work well (I’m happy to replace it periodically as needed).
++ while 'danco' is not my first choice it will be fine PROVIDING it is replaced prior to seat erosion
