Hello,
Handle and trip lever for mom’s Homart commode, circa 1959 has busted.
That company is long out of business, but I’d like to avoid replacing the damn thing, since it’s already survived this long.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Is the hole flush lever in the tank oval or square?

Not sure about Homart but on some flush handles the keeper nut that holds the handle onto the tank has left-hand threads. If you overtighten you can can crack the tank, so just an FYI, if it feels stuck, try going the other way with it.

Most Sears toilets were made by Universal-Rundle and may have had the "tilt flush valve". Need a photo.

the nut INSIDE the tank needs to be unscrewed
you probably will need to hold back on the outside plastic
looks like a left hand thread
