So, I am correcting an issue with the discharge pipes from the sump pumps. Two regular sump pumps share a single 1.5" discharge pipe. I am changing that to two (or maybe three for the battery back up). Does it matter where the discharge pipe exits through the masonry? It is presently exiting through the bottom of the top layer of block and top of the next layer down. The top layer is not solid block, but hollow. The house is in PA. Any code issues to be aware of?

battery back up sump pumps usually discharge into the same pipe as the 110V pump.
there are no code issues that i am aware of.

I personally would not install 2 regular sump pumps on the same line, on the other hand it is normal to install a main sump pump in line with an emergency battery back up pump

Right, because if both pumps are working at the same time, each is working at half efficiency due to sharing the discharge pipe. The battery back up having its own discharge pipe reduces the risk of check valve failure, and that is the preferred method of installation per the instructions. My other question is there a preferred method of running the discharge pipe through the masonry? Normally the top layer of block should be solid, but that isn't the case on this job. This one goes through the wall and then downhill. The lower the pipe exits the house, the less work the pumps need to do.
