Sewer water keeps coming up my basement drain, then the water goes down only to come back up a day later. I had it snaked out 7 months ago when this happened. It happens even when we're not using water or flushing the toilet. What could cause this?

best to have a sewer scope inspection so you can find the real problem/s.
make sure you get a video of the inspection for your records.

If it backs up when no water is in use then it must be coming from the sewer in the street. If it is possible for this to happen you should have a backwater valve to prevent this. It may be defective or have something hanging up the flapper. These valves tend to not be 100% positive.

Are you hooked up to the city sewer, are your neighbors experiencing the same issue, if not I suspect a leaky toilet of faucet as well... and yes a cleaning of the sewer and then a video recorded inspection would be best
