Conversion of Price Pfister "old style" 01 (Windsor) Roman Tub Hot/Cold Valves
Author: Thomas_Lareau (CA)

I have an existing sunken Roman Tub installation with a Price-Pfister wide spread faucet assembly (Verve/Windsor style) which was originally fitted with Price Pfister #910-374, compression style, hot and cold water valves. I am remodeling the adjacent sinks and would like Tub installation to look similar along with modernizing that valve operation.

I have called and talked to Price Pfister and none of the handles on their existing models will fit the older style valve spline. I think I have identified a universal replacement handle that is a close match, but I am unsure if the Ceramic cartridge #910-030 can be installed instead of the #910-374. The overall length of the ceramic cartridge is 1 (one) inch shorter than the compression style replacement.

The tub installation was built without any access panels and if I have to replace the valve body assembly, I have to rip out a lot of tiled deck to get at the valve assembly. Has anyone experienced similar problems?

Thanks,

Stem extenders are available and might solve the length issue.

If you have a 910-374 stem you can replace it with 910-030 but the valve seat must be removed.
