 Viega vs Nibco Propress Fittings
Author: schwansa67 (WI)

Hello, I just pulled trigger and purchased Milwaukee 2473-22 M12 copper Propress tool w/Viega jaws. Questions in regards to pressing fittings other than Viega fittings. I talked with my viega rep, and he said that the viega fittings are made of thicker walled copper than per Nibco/others. And the jaw tolerances may not let the jaws tighten fully enough to complete a good tight seal with other brands that have thinner walled fittings. I understand what he is meaning, yes hes a viega rep trying to promote, however viega fittings are quite costly versus others, and in April the fittings will take an extra 8% pricing increase. Using other brands will void warranty. Whats your thoughts? I do not want to have leaks or blow offs. Anyone else use the viega jaws w/other brands without issues? Tool was 1300 brand new in box from c/l, prob hot haha. Now I have to purchase a pile of fittings which will sting. Thanks for any advice in advance. (I have a feeling I will be told to use $ viega $)

I've never had a problem with streamline or viega fittings, I have had leaks before not sure what brand and was able to repress them with a single wrap around of scratch cloth to make for a better squeeze... not the best way to go about it but it's been at least 2yrs and I haven't seen it leaking yet(I'm at this property often for multiple issues) and the only one I've ever seen actually separate was due to freezing, if you dont want the headache spend the extra money eventually you will get it back. Plus some
