From so so to rigid hosebib connection
Author: ericsandstone (TX)

They hired subs to repipe a home. Inspector failed it.

1) The subs ran uponor pex through existing holes in brick.
The termination is a 1/2" mip by 1/2" pex adapter.
The inspector and another Plumber with the company want
a more rigid connection for at least two of the four hosebibs.
I do not believe that they used hosebibs that can be mounted
into the brick. The connection points "rings" are flush with
the brick surface.

Conditions and ideas)
The office folk talked up a plan to use long nipples and to
secure them inside the wall bays somehow. I believe that the
nipples would wind up being too long. Requiring custom sizes
to be made or, couplings. I asked if we could get hosebibs
which can be attacted via anchors into the brick instead. I
feel that my idea is nice but, the blow out from original holes
may not have left enough brick for success. The home owner isn't
interested in having any more drywall cut out either. I don't
think he can have that wish and rigid hosebib connections too.

I'm thinking that I want a hosebib with holes further out from the
center than average and an effective anchor. I noticed one other hosebib
which came out with a 90 el pex to 1/2" mip adapter with attchment points
the problem with it is that it looks like the person who did that didn't manage
to get the anchors fully set.

More fun)
A hosebib comes out from a tee 1/2" pex. One side feeds water closet.
other side feeds the bib...straight shot short both ways. This bib also
goes through brick.

The last bib standing)
It is fed by PVC riser from the ground and isn't attached to anything
solid. The riser stands up and about an inch from a shed. I thought of
driving a stake through the ground but, don't want to smash PVC I cannot
see. Is a solution for this to drill some wood spacers between the shed
and the PVC and run plastic or metal straps around the PVC?
