 staple hole in PEX tubing
Author: Dgarcia (NH)

Hi! My son accidentally stapled into the PEX tubing that provides our radiant heat . There is now a tiny drip and staple is still in there. I have a piece of material and clamp to repair the leak but should we pull out the staple first or just leave it in there? THANK YOU for your advice!

LEAVE THE STAPLE for the temp fix

you MUST replace a 'section' of the PEX as soon as possible

BUT

? why on earth is the PEX tubing exposed at all ?

the radiator, yes, but the tubing ?!?!

the best repair for a tiny pinhole (or 2 in your case) is a small piece of automotive heater hose.
slit the hose lengthwise, slide it over the pex, put the hose clamps on just tight enough so you can slide the hose quickly over the pin holes, remove the staple and slide and tighten the hose clamps.
the repair will last decades.
