Clawfoot Tub Chrome Tub to Copper Connection
Author: drip (CO)

1902 house that I re-plumbed in 2001 after I purchased it. I converted it into a rental in 2003.

Two years ago, one of the cone washers under the chrome nut where the chrome supply line enters the 1/2 in. Copper Pressure Cup x MIP Male Adapter Fittings (in the cellar) failed and flooded the partially dug out, dirt cellar resulting in 6" of water and muck. It ruined the water heater and the furnace barely escaped damage. I replaced both washers.

The chrome supply and drain lines above the bathroom floor tile are visible.

Is there a more secure way to connect the hot and cold water lines to the tub? I have searched online.

I do not see a way to attach my photo as its only identifying number is 4 003.

Assuming you do not have a lock ridge tool (do they still make them?) put the right sized friction ring (no slop, probably 1/2"winking smiley between the slip joint nut and the slip joint washer and the distort the end of the tube slightly with a screwdriver so that the friction ring cannot slide off the end of the tube.

Those are the only parts that I found (I wanted to add the photo) that I thought may work but I could not find any that were straight. I even emailed the company that sold them and they said that they could not recommend parts and refereed me to this site.
