Shower plumbing not flush with tile
Author: Kento (CO)

I used shark bites fixed elbow connections for the fixture connections in my new shower. The shark bite connections come out the cement board by about 1/8", but they needed to come out by another 3/8" to 1/2" inch to be flush with the tile. I am concerned I will have a mess once the tiles are on if the distance to the fixtures is too great.
What would my solutions be other than replumbing the whole thing with connections that come out the exact right distance?

What "fixtures" are being mounted and what are the requirements from their manufacturer(s).

Just my opinion. Sharkbyte fittings are a temporary fix. They seal with a rubber o-ring that will deteriorate over time. Our company replaces sharkbyte fittings on a weekly basis for customers when they start leaking. solder will last just about forever, rubber o-rings not so much. Like I said, just my opinion.

The shower rough in valve either has a mud guard that would tell how far out from the stud face to set the valve or it's in the directions other than that your description of intent is kind of vague and Bruce is right shark bites are not permanent, hope you leave an access panel behind the shower wall
