newly installed bathroom sink joints leaking
Author: lizo (CA)

Hi,

I just installed a new wall mounted sink in my bathroom and it is leaking from 2 of the joints: where the coupling nut meets the P trap, and above the jamb nut. I put plumbers tape on the threads and they are all screwed together tightly.

Thanks!

Do you have the proper washers installed? The tape would be a bandaid and not the way to seal the joint. Is the "jamb nut" mentioned, the nut under the sink that holds the drain assembly to the sink?

Pipe dope the rubber gasket on the pop up assembly where it meets the bottom of the bowl and threads below overflow holes

Also make sure the trap washers are positioned properly, a little pipe dope on the washers doesn't hurt either
