I have constant water running through the main drain pipe that exits my house (older house with one drain pipe). Does anyone have an idea what would cause this to happen?

I turned off the water to both of my toilets and the water flow through the drain continues.

I also checked my washing machine hose and the water is not coming from there either.

The hot and cold water pipes in my detached laundry room recently busted due to Winter Storm Uri, but these breaks are not connected to the drain line. All faucets are off and the water still continues to flow. Any ideas?

Condensate pump, sump pump, or break in the pipe somewhere, bad trap primer in a floor drain?

I am suspecting a pipe break due to the past freezing temps, but I can not guess where it could be.

Try turning off the the water to the house at the meter or turn off the well pump and wait 10 minutes then check if there is still water flowing

Is it raining? Rain running down roof vents? AC condensation? A broken cleanout cap somewhere outside and rain runoff spilling into it?

If you're on city water, check to see if the little triangle or diamond on the meter face is turning. If so, you're losing water somewhere. I would check the toilets again. Just because the handle turns, doesnt mean it shuts off. Take the lid off the tank to see if water is going into the overflow of the toilet. Let us know what you find.

It looks like one of the toilets is the culprit after all.

That could easily be hundreds or even thousands of gallons a year
