I have a question about a zoeller 508 backup system. The DC pump connects above primary pump with a tee and then a 1.5 to 2" fitting that is push fit. The pump has a 2" outlet and an o-ring and it is secured by a hose clamp to this fitting.

I had to replace the pump, it sounded loud like the impeller was damaged or something was stuck inside. I push fit the new pump onto the old fitting and used the same hose clamp. Added a little silicon to the oring on the pump.
However, If I were to grab the pump and twist I could make it spin even with that hose clamp fully tightened. If I used force, I could likely pull the pump out of this fitting.

Does the fact that I can move the pump even with the clamp fully tightened seem like I have a problem?

no... it is the silicone making it slippery. it should be just fine.

thats what i was hoping Packy. Maybe I should wipe the silicon off?

Seems like a real shitty design, I was tempted to glue but that would mean having to replace that tee as the one with the clamp is strange.... it has slits on it, when you tighten down the clamp I am guessing the slits tighten down on it. As long as it hold though.
