How to install vintage pedestal sink?
Author: clanderson (NE)

I have beautiful vintage Abingdon slab sink and pedestal. Model # n24 and 34n. 1930. The pics show the underside of the sink and the top of the pedestal. How is one suppose to bolt them together? There is a socket in the sink and a slit in the pedestal (I'm guessing to bolt the sink to the pedestal, or the pedestal to the floor. No provision for bolting the basin to the wall.

How should this be mounted?

Your third photo is cropped too closely. Try again in landscape mode.

Also what does the bottom of the pedestal look like?

usually the pedestal sinks I have installed (only about half a dozen or so since I am not a pro), the vessel rests on the pedestal, not bolted. However the back of the vessel is secured to the wall, to the framing or backing board behind the wall. There is no fastener between the vessel and the pedestal. The base of the pedestal can be secured to the floor, some have holes on the bottom, mostly to prevent it from shifting laterally.
