Redoing a bathroom in retro style (1930's fixtures) and want a 3 handle in the wall mounted shower/tub faucet. Would also like the rough-in to have integral shut off stops. All I can find with shut off stops are single handle rough-in valve bodies. Is there a good quality beast out there that combines the 3 handle look with the more modern central valve body( with the admitted safety features), or even the old 3 handle rough-in manifold with the shut off? The single handle is just not retro looking. Also need a wide set lavatory faucet that would match. Any info would be appreciated.

They dont make integral stops for retro valves because there would be no way to access them if you really want it old school cut an access panel behind the tub and put to shut off the supply or 1930's style gate valves and no anti scold safety features for 3 handle faucets with those faucets you are the safety device

The DID make 3 handle valves with shut-offs. The chrome plate was just elongated to give access to them. There are remote balancing valves to give the retro valves that safety feature.

To do this by code which is usually the best thing to do a thermostatic mixing valve needs installed for a three handle shower valve.
since it's adjustable and also could need servicing or replaced later it needs to be accessible.
Also a great place to install hot and cold in-line full port ball valves right before this mixing valve.

no acess for regular stop valves as basement is entirely finished and the valves will be in-the-wall mount.

PricePfister was one company that made a 3 handle valve with stops. Tempera is an inline pressure balancer that could be used with a 2 or 3 handle shower valve. Code also requires valve to have a 120* maximum field adjustable output. The inline protection device is no longer code approved by the 2018 IPC.

Kingston Brass still makes a 2 handle pressure balance tub/shower valve. They would also have a matching lav faucet. They have several handle styles to choose from.

great find - I want one for MY house !
[media.kingstonbrass.com]
however
not a 'true' two handle valve
valve on right = temperature
valve on left = volume
but
MUCH MUCH better than the olden days

Delta also made a 2 handle one on 8" centers - one handle volume and the other handle pressure balancing temperature.
