 Which pipe for tub drain-overflow?
Author: elfriedalegros (HI)

I'm replacing 2 tubs that has ABS drain pipes. HD has three types of tub drain-overflow pipes; Sch 40 PVC, Polypipe and brass. Which type of pipe should be used and why?

Thanks...

they all work well BUT if you choose brass type assembly it must have brass slip nuts.
additionally, it matters what type access you have to do the work and what the future access will be should you need repairs.
my personal preference is a gerber 17 GA (heavier tubing) with brass nuts.
gerber has been around forever and replacement parts are readily available.
do use 100% silicone caulking under the drain flange and against the bottom of the tub opening where a rubber gasket also sets.
