Shower Fitting Proud of finished wall
Author: TonyK132 (CO)

Hello - I am finishing up my shower but I screwed up on one of the shower fittings. For the hand-held wall elbow, it is proud of the finished wall by about 5/32". I put in a 1/2 in. Copper Pressure FTG x FIP Female Fitting Adapter. I cannot find a wall elbow that allows for that fitting to be proud of the wall. So I'm considering cutting that copper adapter to be flush with the wall, but I'd be cutting off 5/32" of the threads to hold the wall elbow. I'm hoping it will be OK once I wrap the male threads with teflon tape since that never seems to go in all the way into the fitting anyway, but I do not want to screw up that fitting since it would be difficult to replace it without major reconstruction of that wall. What do you think of my idea of me trimming that copper adapter?

Maybe something like these? Cut the nipple length to fit.

I need an escutcheon depth of at least 5/32" with a thread length of at least 1/2" behind the 5/32", so neither would work. But good thought, thanks.
