 syphoning water heater
Author: Con0Sea0 (MD)

We bought a home that has the water heater in the attic. We want a tankless in the utility room downstairs.

We cannot safely drain the water heater. The plastic valve at the bottom is worn out and the inlet is clogged.

We want to siphon it, the pump in turned off. Can we access the water from the inlet/supply?

if you disconnect and remove one of the pipes on the top of the tank then you can push a small stiff hose down to the bottom to syphon the tank.

My friend, have you looked into the cost of a Tank-less? They are expensive and complicated and require, I mean really require that you clean the interior tubing with vinegar and water about every 6 months depending on your chemical make up of your water. Seriously, research a little more. Happy New Year.
