Tub Drain Stopper

Hello,

I have the drain stopper pictured. It is a push/pull type (does not need to be twisted to be pushed down, will go up and down in any position), does not have a set screw on the stem, and does not have a screwhead under the pull knob. I have tried counterclockwise spinning with the stopper both up and down and it just spins. The exposed pictured center stem under the knob is spinning as well when the whole unit spins.

I am at a loss as to how to remove this. Any experience with this type?
