 Valley Trim Kit
Author: jgelles (FL)

Hi I’m looking for some advice please. We are rehabilitating a home with an existing shower. The trim kit reads “Valley.” For better or worse, we are not replacing the valve at this time. The Valley replacement trim kits, particularly the valve handle, are very cheap looking. Is anyone aware of any other brand trim kit, or even just the handle that controls water flow and temperature, that will fit the Valley Trim Kit? The 4 holes on the valve are equally spaced, in a square, 1 7/8” apart. I’d be willing to combine two trim kits to get a more upscale look. Ideally, with your help I can find a nice chrome handle to control the valve. Thanks for your thoughts and recommendations.

Valley has been out of business for many years, you are fortunate that someone is still making any trim for it. That said, you might try Simpatico to see if they have anything that will work and you like better.

4 holes? I've only seen 2 screw hole trim plates. Here's a link for Valley trim kits. You need to know the approximate age of the faucet(old style vs new style).

thanks for your input thus far, let me please clarify that even though the valve has 4 equally spaced screw holes, the trim is affixed to the valve only using the lower two screws, so, yes, the trim does have 2 not 4 screws.

Yes, 2 screws. If the installation was in a fiberglass enclosure, often there is a plastic support ring that attaches to the other 2 holes.

And that plastic plaster ground should have been removed when the trim was installed.

Unless it's being used as a support.

You are correct. Most often those holes are used to attach to backing. Thanks for the clarification.
