 Water pressure inconsistent/Black water
Author: marchdea (MA)

I own a recently updated condo. Since the update we have two problems with our showers and one with our double sinks.

In one shower the cold water pressure is fine, the hot water pressure is very poor. I don't think this is the shower head as I removed that and could clearly see the problem without it. What could be the cause of this?

This one affects both showers: if the shower goes unused for any length of time, the water comes out tainted brown, if a very long time, it comes out tainted black. After running a short time, the water goes clear and seems fine. What could be the cause of this?

We have one problem with our double sinks. One works fine, the other has very poor water pressure for both the hot and cold water.

sounds like old galvanized piping since you are seeing discolored water.
the solution is a repipe of your waters.

Do you happen to know what type of water piping your home has?

NP16 is leading you in the right direction. there is something ( a piece of pipe or a fitting) in the hot water piping that is corroding. so what ever it is , it needs to be found and replaced. sooner rather than later.

as for the sink, someone needs to get in the cabinet, shut off the water, disconnect the flexible supplies, aim them in a bucket and turn the water back on. gotta find out if it is the fixtures or the piping.

brace yourself, this doesn't sound good. :>(

I do not know about the pipes but the building is almost 40 years old. I have learned that other condos are not having this problem. Only mine, the newly updated one, has the problem.
