Hello, hoping to learn a new DIY skill here. Our shower has a thermostatic mixing valve that worked fine for about 15 years, but now will usually only get lukewarm, not hot. I had a professional plumber come out to take a look, and he concluded the problem was the valve. Unfortunately, it's an uncommon brand, Rapetti, from Italy, which is no longer in existence, and neither the plumber nor I can find a source for a replacement valve. So, is it possible to repair a non-functional thermostatic valve? The valve moves and does regulate temperature in a limited range (cold to lukewarm), but it does not go to hot. Any suggestion is very much appreciated! We really like the shower otherwise and would rather not have to replace it. Thank you.

not knowing why it doesn't function means we have to guess.
the tried and true process of bringing a cartridge back to life is to soak it in white vinegar overnight.
this might help but it can't hurt.

Sure, here's an image:
Hopefully that will do. It's the only one I took before putting it back.
Thanks for any help!
