 Moen Kitchen Faucet Weirdness
Author: stevez (CA)

Hello,

I have a Moen kitchen faucet model 1225 with a mind of its own. It appears to switch hot/cold sides at will. It will be normal at times H/C = Left/Right and then will swap temperatures right to left H/C = Right/Left. The faucet was installed correctly years ago. This temperature swap is a recent problem. Moen 1-800 is always busy probably due to covid. Online troubleshooting with Google is worthless as the results only discuss the H/C lines being installed backwards or a reversed stem. The stem was replaced 5 years ago and, like I said, the faucet was working perfectly until this week.

Is there a temperature gizzy on top of the stem that controls temp that is somehow broken? Are there any other ideas out there on what to look for?

Thanks in advanced for any advice.

Steve

Take the handle off, rotate the stem 180 degrees and reinstall the handle, On Moen faucets all you have to do to switch sides is to rotate the stem a half turn.

That would be the case for many, but not all, Moen faucets, IF the problem has been since the core was installed, but he stated that it only happened recently, (which on the surface should be impossible).
