I have been working on one of my parents showers, it's a stand up with an older style Delta setup, and also is situated next to a very thin wall with no access behind it, the shower just stopped working around the same time as the septic pump quit and backed up the toilet, I removed the mixing valve and water drained out from the valve, I replaced the springs and seals from a new kit, reinstalled everything, turned on the water and nothing happened, I removed the knob again and upon removing everything, water once again drained out so it seems I'm getting water to the valve, any ideas why it's not coming out of the shower?

Did you remove the shower head and checked it for debris? Turn the valve on with the head off.

Turn on the water with the cartridge out to see if you have flow to the valve.

isn't there a third hole in the valve body?
hot in, cold in and mix out ?
check that third hole with a small wire.
