3/8 comp female to 3/8 comp female swivel substitute
Author: Midawi (NJ)

I recently installed a reverse osmosis water filter system under my kitchen sink.

I wanted to use a 3/8 compression female to 3/8 compression female connector between my shutoff valve and the brass 3/8 "T". I couldn't find one at the hardware store (do they even exist?), so I tried one with a swivel, thinking that the swivel couldn't, hurt if it works.

It didn't work.

It leaks no matter how I install it. (w/ or w/o rubber washers, w/ or w/o Teflon tape, everything from super loose to super tight... I have been back and forth to the hardware store and haven't found a solution. I even spoke with the manufacturer of the swivel connector and didn't get a satisfying answer.

So what is the preferred/recommended way to connect the male 3/8 compression to the male 3/8 compression of the "T"? I prefer to keep the "T" where it is, connected to the top of the shutoff valve, rather than using extra & unnecessary hoses.

What is the exact name of the preferred part so I can find it online?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Get a JD Guess Add-a-Valve which replaces the tee and includes the shutoff. They also make 3/8 compression x 3/8 compression couplings.

Packy,

That would certainly work.

But, I would rather not have all that extra and unnecessary tube length.

I found a 6" long one and ordered it online. It won't arrive until June 5th, so this will be my backup plan.

Thanks!

hj,

Thanks for the response.

I am googling "JD Guess Add-A-Valve" and getting a bunch of John Deere tractor results.

I would like to see exactly what this add-a-valve product is.

I will keep searching for it, but if you can clarify the search or provide a link that would be much appreciated.
