replaced this elbow the other day.
it was pressed onto copper on the end that held BUT pressed onto the street end of a brass female x street adapter.
the much harder brass of the street adapter did not conform to the pressing and blew of. 6000 gallons of water later, the homeowner found the leak.

so the story is... never press a fitting meant for copper onto solid brass.
like this one only street.

Packy Viega only make street female adapters for ProPress in brass. Chances are the press tool needed calibration or battery was low.

it wasn't a viega adapter.
i didn't install it so i don't know.
it was just a plain old female x street brass adapter.
perhaps as you say, the battery was running low ??

or perhaps it wasn't a pro pressing it, it was a diy-press?

Viega has male and female adps made of Bronze.I can't see why they just didn't use a male or female x Press.You want to see some crimp in the fitting & in the pipe or it ain't pressed as far I i'm concerned.

could not see any crimp on the bronze street fitting.
