 Pex as drain pipe?
Author: burgtoad (OH)

I am wondering if there is any reason 1" Pex tubing should not be used for a drain? My specific situation involves a Saniaccess 3 upflush toilet (which requires a 3/4" or 1" drain) and one sink in a half bath. Drain line needs to go up about 10' and about 60' horizontally to tie into main drain, and I was thinking this could be done with far fewer fittings with Pex vs PVC. Any reason this shouldn't be done? Thanks!

any insert type fitting will cause a point of restriction but since it is a 'force drain' it will not matter.
(think of the restriction caused by a check valve)

if pump discharge requires 1" increase size of PEX to 1-1/4 to allow for insert fitting(s)

same principle for 3/4 discharge - make it 1 PEX
