 Shower P-Trap
Author: kabar20 (NC)

There is a sewer smell coming from my shower drain. I've had my plumbing service come by 5 different times. It's been snaked and cleaned out and had the venting checked to no avail. I notice that after showering there is a gurgling coming from the pipe and when I look down the drain the soapy water is sitting there. Should this have been forced through? Any ideas would be helpful. Thank You all!

? suds pressure zone created by new HE washing machine resulting in trap siphoning ?

If the shower tail piece is too long it can wash out the trap. Just make sure you drain the shower slowly to prevent wash out. This will prevent sewer gas from coming into the room.

i don't know why there is a gurgling sound after using the shower but seeing soapy water inside the trap riser is a good sign.
