Fastest way to cut large quantity of PVC
Author: houghystik21 (TX)

Hey guys, I cut a great deal of pvc (usually 3/4" ) for a product I make. I'm talking about 200-500 pieces at a time. Using the hand ratcheting cutter is great for the first 75-100 but after that my hand begins to cramp. I have tried to find cut off wheels for my 4 1/2 in grinder but to no avail. Can I use a diamond blade or masonry blade to cut PVC or can I use a table saw (if so what type of blade)? I'm thinking I could save about 90% in time alone, not to mention not being able to use my hand for the next 24 hours. Thanks in advance.

I sometimes use my compound miter saw to cut PVC pipes - just used the regular rough cut wood blade works. You can get a plastic blade that's thinner but for my purpose that's fine.

yeah, a chop saw is what i use when making multiple cuts for plastic pipe.
i admit, i have never used it for 3/4 inch pipe but i see no reason it should not work just fine.

Sometimes when squaring an end or cutting a very short piece, the saw blade can grab it and sling it out the back. I use a scrap 1x4 or 1x6 as a sacrificial fence. I screw or clamp it upright to the existing fence. The first cut will put the slot in it and make lining up the rest of the cuts much easier. After a while it will look like you emptied a few boxes of the old "Ivory Snow" laundry soap.

How about a horizontal band saw? If you used a 4.5 inch capacity saw, you could build jigs to cut 16 pipes at a time (4 wide, 4 high). Would that help?
